Coenzyme Q10 has been long known to be the "battery" inside cells. When this power source depletes the cells begin to die i.e. the aging process speeds up. As the level of Coenzyme Q10 decreases insideĀ the cell, more free radicals populate the cell. These free radicals eventually damage and kill the cells.
A new study done on European women now show a link between low levels of Coenzyme Q10 and city living. The study suggests that inhabitants of cities have their Q10 and Vitamin E storage consumed quicker as their body attempts to fight off environmental damage i.e. toxins like carbon emissions. Almost every city in Australia and the world have higher than normal levels of pollution and it is important for residents to increase their intake of Coenzyme Q10 and anti-oxidants to fight off premature aging.
In addition to providing the essential energy for cells to function and survive, the study also showed that Q10 increases longevity by reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases and metabolic stresses.
